Excellent winds, sunshine and arguably the best sailing waters in the world with some of the best 49er sailors in the world gave this National Ranking event a slightly differnt twist.
The standard of competition was extremely high with Iker Martinez and Xabi Frenadez, the Spanish Olympic gold medallists, fellow Brits and European champions Stevie Morrison and Ben Rhodes and World Champions Chris Draper and Simon Hiscocks meant that every winner of every top event this year was out on the water.
Predictably the racing was extremely tight, only on the Saturday did Iker and Xabi, demonstrate any kind of dominance with 3 straight race wins. Morrison, Martinez and Draper all fought it out for the top spot, but it was the Austrian Red Bull team of All classes report

Morrison, Martinez and Draper all fought it out for the top spot, but it was the Austrian Red Bull team of Nico Delle Karth and Nikolaus Resch who very nearly won the weekend with a remarkably consistent performance.
Many teams complained of feeling a bit rusty, Draper and Hiscocks complained that after a month off they were feeling particularly rusty, however Andy Rice and Gareth Edwards put it all into place with a three year break ! Plenty of top teams were seen on upturned boats durring the weekend !
On Friday the first ever Sail for Gold regatta gets underway with a similar or even bigger entry the racing is going to be tighter than ever.
